From reading previous posts on this topic I've made a list of the recommended shampoos that I could use on my horse's tail which is pretty yellow at the end. I've tried things like Vanish OxyAction Crystal Whites but, while it makes it SO much better, it's still slightly yellow and when you hold it up to the white bits at the top of his tail there's a clear difference! I've decided against trying the Supreme Show Ring leg and body whitener powder as my horse is a dark steel grey and has lots of black in his tail as well as white and it sounded like the powder would make it all white?!

Ok the options I've come up with are:
1) Champion tails stain remover (in a tub)
2) Equine blue shampoo for white hair
3) Cowboy magic 'shine in, yellow out'
4) Horse Health Wessex 'brite whites'
5) Equinade Glo-White
6) Quicsilver

By having a choice of six I don't really want to buy all six but would rather try one first, so if anyone has used any of these and found some that have or have not worked then that would be really helpful to shorten my list!
Many thanks

If its the ends just bleach it!!! then wash with quicsilver...IMO its the best! then when tail is dry i put baby powder through it and voila...tis dazzling!!

Bleach may eventually turn the tail yellow so be a little careful with it.
It is best to wash the tail with a proper shampoo more frequently and it will eventually come white. As your horse is not a mare, you have a good chance of getting a good colour. People swear by lots of hot water and fairy liquid and a variety of other things. But frequent washing does seem to help and if so, you need to use something that will not damage the hair.

Sorry - this is not on your list, but I LOVE the Wahl Diamond white shampoo..
It smells soo nice & since using it, Pepper's tail no longer has the obligatory yellow streaks in it.
It comes in a huge bottle/tub and lathers really well too..I use it on his body & his tail

Bearing in mind I've tried using Daz and loads of other things to try & get it white - this is definitely the best!

i find washing it in any random whitening shampoo then dentrue cleaner tablets dissolved in the rinsing water! it is absolutely fantastic!! mavs tail was yellow and i could not get anything to make it white. i think i have tried every whitening shampoo on the market!
