Hope you don't mind me asking here....

I've got to create 2 magazine covers on Photoshop for my Visual Communication module. One is going to be SJ-based, and the lecturer has asked if, where possible, we can use our own photographs, either that we have taken or had taken in the past. So I need to choose one for the 'centrepiece' of my mag cover...

I've narrowed it down to two, but I'm not sure how to choose between them!!!

Love the angle on the first one but the second one has more clearence so i think that would look pretty cool!!
But if its for the front cover then maybe first would be better because its straight!
Oh i duno there both lovely!

so would you extract the image and use a new background, or would you do it H&H style, and use the background as it is?

The 1st has a better background, but horse and rider in the second is better.

Could you not erase the background in the second but leave horse, rider and jump in on it?

edges are all rough when I've extracted!

i would go for the 1st - simpler background and the horse looks gorgeous!
although the direction the horse is jumping is better in the 2nd, and the riders smile makes the pic!
i don't know, they're both great!

The second one would make me buy the mag, I'd expect it to have more fun content than the first.

Both are great pictures but you are trying to sell something. Also the second jump looks higher as you can't see the bottom of it.

this is a good point - I will be 'aiming' it at amateur SJers, so the fun element is crucial!

Thank you for your suggestions, everyone; you've been really helpful! When I get it finished, I'll post it here and you can tell me whether you would buy it!

If you convert your first one to a portrait layout, cutting out the sides you virtually have a magazine page shape and room around the edges - I played with imaging as I don't have anything more sophisticated, but it gives you an idea of how you could lay it out

The first picture is 'less cluttered' but I don't like the horse being in the background, the second one the rider has a nice smile, which makes it more appealing. Tough choice!

ooooh again, thank you! it looks better extracted than I thought it would! I'm thinking I will probably run with the 2nd one, as the fact that I am smiling, and ellie has her ears pricked will enhance the 'feel' of the magazine! ta very much to everyone who has helped me out on this! much appreciated!

Not read everyone's so sorry if I'm saying the same

I like one.... can you try airbrushing the person in the background out cus with them in it it looks a bit messy but the second one has few show jumps in the background so is also bit busy.

Lovely Pictures BTW are you local to Leices/Notts look like David Coles (sure thats his name) Flowers
