Hello all.

I have recently removed my mares shoes and started rehabbing her feet due to a diagnosis of bilateral coffin joint effusion and mild medial collateral ligament desmitis.

I'd really appreciate any tips on which Pro-earth supplement I should go for. Her hoof balance is pretty bad but the horn quality is much better than my cobs. We do have some thrush in her frogs currently, but I'm guessing that is at least partly due to the horrid wet ground as she lives out 24/7. She is on hay (lots of!!) with fast fibre, alfalfa, linseed and magox.

We have a blog if anyone is interested in reading my inane drivel. Or seeing photos.

Thanks :)

I used pro hoof but had to change to the forage plus one as my horse had bad thrush and his hooves were terrible, falling apart. You might get away with their pro balance rather than the pro hoof which is cheaper if your horse has generally ok hooves.

How are you treating the thrush? I found septi clense (sp) good, farmers use it for "foot rot" it was under £3 for the tin. Hopefully once you've got the minerals into her the thrush will start to go which is what I found.

Progressive earth who make pro hoof are really good if you email them for advice which you should be able to do through their ebay page.

I like your blog I looked at it the other day via phoenix.

I used Pro Hoof to start, then changed to Pro Balance when he came off the grass for winter. He had thrush in his feet from being out on wet grass 24/7, but it cleared up straight away once I scrubbed his feet out with Milton. Ideally I'd have soaked his feet for 15mins, but I was short of time so just gavce them a really thorough scrubbing. I couldn't believe that it cleared it by the next morning :)
