Which rug?

I'm off on hols later this week for 10 days and my 2 horses are going to be turned out while I'm away. I don't know what type of rug to put on them though! i.e. heavy, medium or light...they both have good thick coats but were clipped, with their last clip being a very low trace clip nearly 4 weeks ago, so it's well growing back. the weather is SO bad that I don't want them to get chilled or lose weight, but I will also be clipping them out fully when they come back in at the end of december, so i dont' want them completely dependent on heavy rugs so they then freeze when i clip them! Any advice much appreciated.

With only a trace and hair growing back then a medium should be fine. Can you leave the other rugs ready for whoever is checking on them incase their rugs get drenched or they're too cold/hot??

someone will be checking on them? I'd leave the other rugs there just in case the mediums (which should be fine) get too wet....
