Which saddle for a draught/cob type?

Can anyone on this forum please recommend me an 18” GP saddle for a short coupled 16.1 (growing) draught/cob type.

I currently have an 18” Thorowgood GP but it’s not a cob type and I'm looking at the T4 GP Cob. I have also been looking at the Wintec equivalent too and also the Ideal leather saddles (cob ones) but I can’t seem to find any secondhand!

Saddle recommendations would be gratefully received.

Would be great to see some pics too of your saddle for cob types. Thanks.
 
I have a Kent and Masters cob GP saddle. They have the interchangeable gullet system so can be re-fitted by a saddle fitter easily when the horse changes shape. I have had many different saddles in all price ranges and this has been one of the best. It is comfortable, gives the horse freedom through the shoulder and gives even weight distribution. It is a leather saddle with wool flocking so is hard wearing, I have had mine 3 years so there will probably be a few second hand ones about. There seem to be a lot of saddles available now for the broader horse so I am sure you'll find one to suit!

My current Thorowgood has a white gullet (which is extra wide).

I have also been looking at the Kent & Masters - which is the leather version of the Thorowgood - well that's what I've been told or do you think they are different.
 
I have a Kent and Masters saddle for my cob, they are the leather version of the Thorowgood and take the same gullets.
My other cob has a Symonds saddle, they are very nice as well.
 
I have a gfs haflinger exchange. I tried a thorowgood cob and thought it was awful, felt like I was doing the splits, never even made it out of the yard in it
 
Will be interested to see what saddles are recommended for cobby types...

My lad is a 15.1ish Irish MW cob, with a bit of wither, but whacking great shoulders! I've got him in a Wintec 2000, which is a GP/VSD type. It fit him really nicely when I got him, but isn't fab now... The saddler says it's still ok, but not the best, so I'm saving up for a new saddle - GP or dressage, whichever I find first :)

A few people have told me that Ideal are good for chunkier types as they have a decent weightbearing surface...

Ohhh - which Ideal do you have? What is the fitting like? My lad is a cob, but has a bit of wither, so not completely table-top... What is yours like?
