i have a wintec pro dressage saddle but plan on buying another saddle to do everything my dressage saddle cant do, eg show jumping above 90cm ish and cross country.

also i want to do some showing should i use my dressage saddle for this?

should i buy a jumping saddle or general purpose saddle?

It's tricky to decide, depends how much/and to what level of the different disciplines you want to do. If you're only going to do a few prelim tests and the odd 90cm class then you may as well just get a GP, same if it's just local showing. If you're happy in your wintec dressage saddle then I'd stick with that and get a jumping saddle too, as if you've got something you're happy doing dressage in then you may as well get something nice and forward cut to help out your jumping! I'm no showing expert so can't help you there, but would guess maybe the dressage saddle would be best for that? I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, but I think you need to decide if you get a really nice GP, or a jumping and dressage. I bought a new kent and masters jump saddle for £700 and a second hand isabell werth for £350, and am very happy! I find the dressage saddle really boosts my flatwork, and it allows me to be able to have a nice forward cut saddle for the jumping and xc that I do!

Good luck :) xx

First of all what levels are you competing/showing at? ie: anything over local level showing, your dressage saddle won't be acceptable (and even at local level, its not a great idea). Not because its a D saddle, but because its synthetic (judges tend to hate synthetics of any description).

A working hunter saddle would be acceptable for showing and you could jump in it to, but wouldn't be suitable for eventing.

Best answer would be 2 new saddles: jumping and showing.

You could get away with just getting a GP if your showing is local level...and then you could jump and show in it...

I would just agree that if you are showing at anything above a local level then synthetic isn't the way forward, they aren't looked upon terribly favourably...

But I would just stick with a GP for your jumping and showing and then use the dressage for...dresssage! :)

the dressage saddle came with the horse.

we would be probably showing at local level only but we are jumping over 9-cm possibly up to 120 or more.

i only have around £400 at most so one new saddle is the only option i think.
i think as we are only locally showing at the moment from what you all have said i would be best geting a jumping saddle?

the horse has competed to medium dressage so i need to keep the dressage saddle
