I'm competing Ettie in a couple of weeks and decided I need another bridle for showing - since last time I went showing (successfully!) I asked the judge for any comments and she said my bridle didn't suit Ettie. Which I fully agree! Especially as it was a flash and I hacked off the flash band :D

I don't want a too expensive one - would go up to £70 but would prefer £50. - it would only be used for showing, not hacking.

As she is a pba, she needs something very fine and pretty - probably a show noseband. I've looked at jefferies and sabre, but they are the top end of my budget, but I will buy one if there is nothing cheaper. - I would also quite like a make where I can buy a headpiece just in case I want to go double, but this isn't essential.

I quite like the look of the GFS show bridle but am not sure what the leather is like, as have only seen pictures.

What do people recommend?

(a picture so you can see her headshape - my bridle is a bit crooked in this pic!)

Fylde bridles are lovely l. Very similar to Jeffries, but a bit cheaper.

If you want to keep the slip head, can you get one with billet fastenings rather than a buckle?

Also, hope you don't mind a suggestion, I'd change the bit as well, I think a rugby pelham looks really cluttered and big, especially on a horse with such a lovely head. A show pelham is much neater, still has the loose ring and you can get them in variety of mouthpieces of ebay.

And I just know you will have straightened everything up before going in the showring :D

Thanks very much for advice.

I was going to get a new slip head - that one I bought in a bit of an emergency and it was the only one available.

Yep, I'm also going to get a show pelham -i'd already decided that as I don't really like the rugby. Have seen a jointed one with a lozenge on ebay - as I find it difficult to fit Ettie in a straight bar, as her mouth is so small but her cheek bones prominant!

I've also got her a proper show browband now - can't wait for it to arrive :D
