Hello - I am hoping to enter some local shows this year but unsure which class would suit my horse. Luckily the show I am looking at for our first one does a general "ridden cob" so hopefully she will suit that but any other advise?

I understand I have made her a but of a hybrid as she is fully clipped out but still has a mane so she isn't really a show or traditional cob!

Here is a pic

She is really sweet. As you say, you have made her a bit of an inbetweeny but thats ok! I would be tempted to leave the mane down and go in the cob class, just expect to be advised what you already know re. legs off mane should be off etc to match. have you got a photo of her stood up square? Could she maybe just about get away with being plaited up as a hunter type? You could do coloureds, working hunter if she jumps, riding club horse (lots of shows doing these now), best turned out. Good Luck :)

Thanks! This is the only one I could find of her standing kind of square - I don't have any without me on her unfortunately.

I have been looking at some show schedules and its so difficult to know which classes would be ok - scared I enter the wrong class and look like a total idiot haha!

You could ask the show secretary for guidance about their particular classes.

But as above, in local shows, you could enter WH, and RC horse/pony, most local coloured classes are open to any vaguely coloured horse/pony, so yours should do well. There may well be equitation classes according the rider's age, which you would be eligible for. Most shows are grateful for the entries, so you won't be made to feel silly, although a judge might suggest that you would do better in x class, if there happens tobe a lot of typey horse/ponies in your chosen class.

Go out there and enjoy yourselves!
