Hello - I am hoping to enter some local shows this year but unsure which class would suit my horse. Luckily the show I am looking at for our first one does a general "ridden cob" so hopefully she will suit that but any other advise?

I understand I have made her a but of a hybrid as she is fully clipped out but still has a mane so she isn't really a show or traditional cob!

Here is a pic

I cannot see a photo but as she is clipped, assuming her legs are done then for now I would plait the mane and pull or plait the tail and turn her out as smartly as you can, at local level the judge shouldn't mind too much if she is not totally correct with a hogged mane but if you do want to do more then you need to decide what she is going to be and either allow her to grow the full hairy look or hog her but really unless she is going to be a show horse as her main job I would just keep her mane short enough to plait and trim up the rest of her for an easy life.

does this one work? thanks - I just want to get her out for experience really, wouldn't be making it her main job but also don't want to turn up and look really silly if you know what I mean :)

The photo's are showing for me too :)

She's very pretty! How big is she?

How about looking into show hunter? Does she jump? She could maybe do workers too.

If only for experience, head into classes like best turned out, best mare, best condition etc xx

She is not as chunky as I expected so you have plenty of options locally, coloured horse, RC horse, hunters, workers if she jumps as well as the fun classes, she looks like a useful allrounder that you can have lots of fun with.

I can see the pics now. Lightweight cob (if 15.1h or under) and coloured horse are the "official" classes she would be considered for, but you can always bung her in small hunter, riding horse, etc. just for fun.

ooo this is exciting - more classes than I thought we would be able to do! she does jump, I am going to enter some working hunter with her too! She is 14'2 / maybe 14'3, going to measure her properly to check we enter the right class

thanks! she is a great all rounder, we do endurance, XC, jump, dressage, Le trec... anything I take my fancy to really - she will just go with the flow - I am very lucky! So this year my aim is to get some showing experience under out belts and some working hunters as the fillers scare me so need to face my fear!

i was expecting to see a heavyweight cob (which is not my type of horse) and was pleasantly surprised to see your horse, she looks like a really useful sort, a general riding club type....you could enter almost anything at local level for a bit of fun.....i really like her....

She really reminds me of my old girl, not cobby (fat) enough for cob classes but too heavy for most others.
I think I did one showing class but she wasn't coloured enough for that either as she had less white than yours. Riding club, coloured and workers would be my choice.

aww thank you! she is a great allrounder, thats why I want to get some showing experience under her belt as its the one thing we haven't attempted yet

She's small enough to do a family horse class as well if they have any as she could be ridden by a child or an adult. Family horse/pony classes often require them to be ridden by a junior and a senior so you may have to borrow a child.

My friend and her then 10 year old son took her horse (my share horse) in one just for fun last year. The judge told them whilst he behaved perfectly and was a beautiful horse, she had to place him down the line as he's a bit big to be considered a proper family horse. I don't know what she meant, he's only a 17hh part shire :D The next biggest was a 14hh pony. All the others were kids' ponies being ridden by the mums rather than mum's horse being ridden by the kid!

Pay attention to the age limits on workinghunter classes. Pony classes tend to be for kids though some shows run open workers at smaller heights for ponies with no age limit. Otherwise you will be in the horse workers.
