As some of you will know, I have a part bred Cleveland Bay filly (Stainmore Gypsy Rose) who's rising 3 this year. She's tri-coloured, currently standing 15.2hh and has approx 9" of bone. I'd like to get her out and about this year showing for the experience but wonder which classes she would suit the best. Thats where you clever guys come in! I won't be showing her until June or after, give her time to mature a bit, fill out and loose the rest of her coat. My other mare has been shown extensively but she's a traditional cob, so thats where my experience lies really!
Here are some pics of her........................Not brill photo's I know but it gives you a general idea of what she's like!

Luna as we call her, is just so genuine and lovely! I dare say she'll be a bit on her toes for the frist couple of times, but it will do her the world of good!
Cheers!

Not all coloured classes are down to non-native and hairy types, hence my suggestion that as she has bone, hunter type would probably be worth looking at. The larger coloured shows have many types and there is also no reason why you can't put her in any class. Coloureds are now doing very well in all types of classes, not just coloureds.

However for general coloureds, then yes non-native horse is the one to put her in.

Thanks, much appreciated! I'm not really competitive but would like her to have the experience. I'm hoping to do some trailblazers locally and riding club showing shows.

Hope the weather stays as good as it is today!...... Doubt I'd be that lucky! LOL

I love her, I think her sire stands here in Cumbria, went to look at him but sadly he was to big for a riding pony. What about younstock classes. Good luck. She looks a little pigeon toed in the last photo, could just be the angle though!

Depends what level...at county, if you were to enter her in a coloured class, she would definitely be non-native (trimmed and plaited) as others have said and within that class, you turn out according to type for ridden....she may well be a hunter type as she fills out as she grows.
Local level tends to just be one Coloured class with both native and non-natives in the same class...
But of course, Im only talking about coloured classes which I think she would do very well in...

Yep Pastie2, her sire is Edenvalley Outlaw. Based in Cumbri and owned by Barbara Martindale. What did you think of him? I've not seen him but do have a pic of Luna as a foal with her Cleveland Bay mam!

I thought he was lovely, a grand stamp of a stallion. He lives in a very remote and exposed area in the pennines and looked a picture. They had some nice youngstock by him. They must be well over 1000ft and cold cold winds, but all the horses looked great. We had a fine riding pony and wanted to breed a smart coloured, he was just too big. He also had a wonderful temperement. I certainly wouldnt hesitate to use him on a more substantial mare.

Ah thanks for that, its reassuring to know he was a decent stallion! I hope to get up to see him one day, would be good to have some pics of him!
