I have a saddle fitter coming out tomorrow morning to sort out a saddle for my neddy.

I thought of getting either a Prestige or Vega made by Amerigo, I need it for jumping.

What are other people's thought's on these saddles, or does anyone recommend a nice showjumping saddle?

Thanks

Thanks for advice. I will see what she brings tomorrow.

I don't want to spend loads, which I know is hard to do on quality saddles, but i know the Vega saddles are made by Amerigo, but cost about half the price.

I would recommend the saddle that fits you and your horse! You may find that the make you have set your heart on does not fit your type of horse.

Have been told by a saddler to steer clear of Amerigo's!
I'll put in a vote for Albion, I have a Kontrol and it's fab

I have a prestige Paris K monoflap which I love. I was lucky - mine was brand new excess stock so was less than half price! See what saddler brings and go with whichever one suits you and the horse the best...

We always had Prestiges for the ponies and son loved them. Much comfier than the Albion K2 that we had to get to fit the horse.

This reminds me that I have a 16" (they come up huge - 5'10 son just outgrown) Prestige Silver Star jumping saddle in as new condition gathering dust in the tack room..

Thanks everyone so far.

If i can get a nice cheaper one that fits me and the horse than even better.

I currently have a Harry Dabbs, which i love, that is virtually new, which i brought for another horse. Got rid of horse for the present one and it doesn't fit it.

Will obviously check with saddle fitter to make sure nothing can be done. I don't want the tree widening, i'd rather keep it for my other horse to see if it fits him. (He's away schooling at the moment, so can't tell yet if it will fit him.)

I had a Prestige Paris D which i recently sold on ebay for £950. Absolutely fab saddle, loved riding in it and fitted Gem beautifully, only sold as i dont really jump enough anymore to warrant owning such a expensive saddle!

It isn't always good to set your heart on a particular saddle as sometimes they may not be suitable for your horse. Best is for a fitter to come with a range of different saddles & try a variety on your horse. Then when they've worked out the best fitting ones then you ride & see how you feel in them. That way you'll end up with the best fitting & most suitable for what you want.

We have two show jumpers & they each have a different make of saddle as those appeared to be the best fit on our horses. Don't blinker yourself to saddles of other makes.

Totally agree - after planning to buy an expensive saddle for neddy we ended up with a much cheaper one because it fitted horse and rider well and was suited to the level of competition.

There is also an element of personal preference - some close contacts are very flat and may not give the 'right' secrity for the rider.

I have Devoucoux saddles.

They fit well, hold their value and are SO SO comfy - you can go hacking for hours in it without a numb bum!

I have had 2 prestiges now - although lovely saddles i never felt the 'fitted' right - despite having saddlers out.

Thanks to everyone, had the saddle fitter out today, and she tried several different types of saddles.

We narrowed it down to two Prestige saddles, and I ended up buying the Prestige Versailles.

It's a lovely saddle, and I didn't think it was that overpriced tbh.

I even asked the saddle fitter to have a go on my horse :-) to give her opinion.
