My mare is by Parco and has Kannan on her Dam's side. I want a stallion which will put its physical stamp on the horse and also something with a good and brave temperament as she can be a bit nervous and spooky. She has fab paces and a good jump and i want to breed a show jumper.

I have looked at Ramiro B as he is quite local to me, so if anyone has experience of this stallion, i would be interested in your thoughts. Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

Have a look at Zanzibar, he's atTwemlows at the moment. I have 2 by him and know of a few others, and they all have similar traits , friendly, confident and throw a lovely shape over a fence. They also tend to have white socks and white stripe. Plus he hasn't thrown a chestnut yet ! (I do love chestnuts, as I have 4, it's just nice to have a little variety in the field)I'm that pleased with mine that I'm trying to get a full sibling to my home bred.

Are you wanting to breed a serious horse or a fun lower level horse? Your mare has serious breeding and you could aim big if you wanted but that may not give you a rideable amateurs horse?
I chose a SJ stallion for my mare but I don't need the next Olympic prospect, I just want a fun 1.30 horse so I didnt choose the big, scopey, WOW jumper.

Asha - thank you he does look lovely!

TheMule - good question. I want something similar to you and it doesn't need to be world class. Temperament is more important to me. My mare has jump and fab paces but mentally is not always the easiest.

Ramiro B would be a good bet as everyone says the offspring are extremely easy and trainable & he would give you enough jump!

Ramiro B and Lauriston are both lovely, more old fashioned sorts with stock out there proving very trainable and straightforward

From what you say about your mare Ramiro B sounds like a good option.
I met him at one of the stallion shows, lovely horse in his own right and seems to throw honest, workmanlike competition horses that do a job.

Another one to consider would be Je taime flamenco. The lady who competes my 2 also starts horses for Pewit stud. She has a couple of 4yo in at the moment and both have fabulous attitudes to work and jump amazing too. Have a look at her Facebook page as there are lots of photos and videos of them. Both chestnuts

My 2 Zanzibars are on there too.(Harry and Mirren) - unashamedly proud of my 2 youngsters ,

Look up Foxmoss on Facebook

Good luck who ever you choose, and look forward to seeing you foal pics next year!

Ramiro B is a super stallion and throws stock with consistent temperaments and ability. I wouldn't say they are 'pretty' youngsters but grow into v smart horses.

Without seeing your mare another I would highly recommend is El Thuder. Grade A himself he has had a quiet last year as had colic surgery last year but is now back out jumping again. His temperament is amazing with absolutely every one of his foals that I know of being so so easy....everyone I know has commented on it. I love him so much that I have now had 3 as well as a granddaughter. Definitely worth considering as they not only jump and look the part but become your best mate too. His owner is on FB under Bellegrace Equine with lots of pics of him on there.

I was at Bolesworth at the weekend, and got chatting to someone who knows Ramiro B well. He sounds fantastic. Apparently really stamps his stock with his friendly temperament , from what I was told they tend to look a lot like him too. Sounds a very good choice.

Asha - thank you so much for this feedback! It is very kind of you. I wanted to go to Bolesworth but only got back from hols on Saturday so had too much washing to do!!!

My mare is due to be scanned a week on Friday and then we will try and get her in foal. Very exciting. Its all new to me though as this will be my first foal.
