I have a 13.1hh mare who has just had a beatiful filly by Mcguigan this summer who is hopefully going to make a smart FEI pony. My problem is now.. what to put the mare to next any ideas??? bearing in mind the mare was a county level WHP and BYRDS regional champion, so has the paces and the jump!! any ideas?

Good ponies stallions are hard to find and if you have a good mare who moves well and jumps the decision is which way to go. The show pony societies have a good list of the best performing stallions. I did notice when i was looking for a stallion for my mare that meadow stud have a very good pony stallion that is doing well, he might be worth a look at and there is the FEI dressage stallion Manitu.

I was thinking along the lines of using Up with the Lark but now I'm not so sure having seen some of these smart pony stallions, any other suggestions?

I love Bernwood Brokat (sp) and Broomford Dancer, though find the whole concept of calling these Welsh/Riding Ponies, continental or warmblood ponies ludicrous when they are effectively just exported and then re-imported with dressage training and big stud fees.......

I would go for something like Daws Firebird maybe, if I wanted something small but gorgeous or Harroway Mr Harlequin.

I agree with you with goin for horses rather then pony stalions as she is only 13.1hh you want a bigger pony and if they go over u can still sell them as eventers to juniour riders makin the step from ponies to horses, whereas if u got a 13.3hh posh pony you would have to find someone to ride it otherwise its just a waste!
