Ok had a couple of replies re.when to breed, and I think all should be ok to breed from Spider in May.

Now its choosing a stallion time! If I list a few things that are her weaknesses it would be great if you could suggest a few stallions for me !!

Need something around 16.3hh, no upright hind legs and she is built abit like this, mostly TB and a very bold outlook for the XC. She has a lovely temp, nice paces and a good clean jump.

Any ideas?

Are you not drawn to Jag Mail and Aligator F? I'd have thought Jag would be cracking to Spider!

I quite like that son of Rock King...is it King of Accacia (spl?).

I would consider Opposition Heracles- such fantastic attitude xc and would keep the quality in her jump which some tbs will tend to flatten out

He is only 16.1hh I have very long legs and didnt want to take the risk it could be a 16hh horse or less when fully grown

Ahhh, haven't seen confo picture, only the stud ad in Horse Deals.

Holly, Twemlows deal with Jaguar Mail and Aligator Fontaine's semen.

I wouldnt consider showmaker to breed an eventer, he is a dressage horse through and through, in pedigree and in comformation.

Another fan of both Jaguar Mail and Alligator Fontaine. Did you want the stallion to be mostly TB or is your mare mostly TB?

what about classic primitive (Gemini Stud). I have never seen him but I know someone he is based close by and they say that as an eventer he is a good model. He's only 3 but apparently has quite a few decent mares to him this year - The Tourmaline Rose and Little Tiger.

Isn't he (classic Primitive ) by Chico's Boy? Don't know what the dam line is butChico's Boy is Holstein (and lovely)

That one firm posted looks very interesting, a lot of TB blood in that pedigree but still got jumping blood too

I would look at Contendro as he seems to give a really good jump and paces and as your mare already has some TB in he might suit very well.

Volatis - I think he is a very interesting stallion. Hopefully he will go out & prove himself!

Weston Justice, maybe too small or Cruisings Mickey Finn?

With the Irish or GB eventing lines you know they have produced offspring with guts to go XC. A pure clean jumping SJ maybe too careful & a couple of rubs on the timber might put them off. Bit of a generalisation but worth bearing in mind

I don't know that the owner is looking to add mainly TB blood and Contendro is not that heavy compared to some. He also seems to produce some very lightbuild offspring so may not pass on his build if put with the right horse and most of the offspring that I have seen at the auctions in Germany have been out of other pure warmbloods. He might well be looking at is all I am saying.

I took this to mean that whe is built mostly TB and has a bold outlook not that that is what she needs. I may be wrong though.

She is mostly WB, she is 3/4 WB and 1/4 TB with a tiny tiny bit or arab!

I asked for clarification as like you I first of all assumed the mare was mostly TB but the OP is looking for a stallion that is mostly TB

Sorry I didnt word it great!

Am looking for something with more TB, my mare is mostly WB, good bit of bone and has a fantastic temp but does have quite upright pasterns and isnt the boldest XC so they are things im looking 4 in a stallion

Re Classic Primitive he is an interesting young stallion.

He has won the PAVO, highest placed colt at the National Hunter Show (2yrs), B.E.F. Eventing Champion (2yrs), Reserve SJ Champion (2yrs), Highest Aggregate score in British Breeding history over nearly 5 years on the BEF over SJ and Event, was 2nd in the Free Jumping in East of England, and less than 2 marks benind the winner at the British Dressage Breeding Champs (2007).

There is a good reason why other Badminton mares have chosen him, The owner owns teh dam and the full brother and would be very welcome to show them to you.

Sue Rawdings loved him, and Ruth Edge has the ride on him. Gemini who own him have 3 of the top ten Sports Horse GB mares from 2007.

He is out of a full TB Primitive Rising mare and looks like a full TB...

If you like him (www.geministud.co.uk) share with us what you think

Have a peep on the Horse Talk NZ website re the British Badmitnon mare "Little Tiger" and the Event Stallion Classic Primtiive....

Best of luck!

Your mare sounds lovely. Have a look at (www.geministud.co.uk) at classic primtive. he is mostly TB out of a full TB Primitive rising mare, very modern.

He won the PAVO and has the highest aggregate score in BEF History over 5 years across eventing and SJ. He was also the highest placed colt at the National Huner Show and 2nd in his Free jumping in East of England.

Just 2 marks behind the winner of circa 20 at The British Dressage Breeding Champs (Addington 2007) He was the only Event horse presented.

He has a plethora of great mares, do feel free to contact Gemini and come and see him

Best of luck!"

kinnearr, not saying classic primitve is not a lovely colt, but just be careful admin doesn't come down on nyou under the dont advertise/promote your stallions on here rule. It's very useful to hear inside information on him but just be careful.
