I wanted to start a thread on the stallions at the expo as the other thread is a lot about the event, but I'd like one about the horses themselves!

I was there on both days and thought there were some super horses there. I'm dressage so my opinions will be in that vein, but some of the others did catch my eye.

Adonnis - I'm biased as I have mare in foal to him so don't need to say much but he looked great has such a good attitude.

Woodlander Wavavoom - Absolutely loved this horse. Despite being at least 2 years younger than everything else there, I thought he showed fabulous loose expressive paces and I saw him being got ready and warmed up; he seemed to have a great laid back nature. He got a bit frightened in the arena, but he was able to settle and his (excellent) rider showed that he is very rideable.

Keystone Rhondeo - This horse had the power and the paces to match and showed himself off well. He has a real 'look at me' when he is in the arena. He was also very quiet and friendly in his stable.

I was also impressed with Worldwide, Treliver Decanter and Fontainebleau.

On the non dressage front, I really liked Contido (his photos did not do him justice) and Chilli Morning is a very smart type. Upton's Deli Circus looked like great fun and his rider was grinning ear to ear while he pinged over all the fences with his ears pricked.

Interested to hear what other people though...

Thanks for posting. I knew my post below would get a few hearts racing but what I really wanted to know was what the actual horses were like! (and the bitching keeps me entertained too....)
Glad you liked Contido (did he jump well?) and Chille Morning as I would like to use them and everyone seems to love Uptons Deli Circus

Adonnis, Wolkenderry and Contido were fab and previous photos do not do them justice.

Contido - scoopy jumper and great temp.

Treviler Decanter - big strides, natural uphill and light. lovely temp.

well I would like to know why no one has posted any pictures yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on some one MUST have taken a camera!

Many lovely stallions but my favourite was Contido - so handsome and well mannered he should be a gigolo. Oh and scopey as well just in case you think I am so shallow to be won over by looks alone!

Well I am not long back from today. Really enjoyed the day, great seeing so many stallions in one go, although sadly not all were presented today.

The stallions I liked and am now thinking of using for my mares are:

Keystone Rhondeo - A class of his own. Just floated and had a lovely temperament.

Catherston Springsteen - Fantastic temperament, so chilled and yet that look at me attitude. Didnt move WOW, but very nice and correct, obedient, and would def be great to add to a slightly hot headed mare.

Monte Carlo - Loved his stamp and very well behaved. Is he not broken in as he wasnt ridden?

Curtis and Uptons Deli Circus on the jumping side.

Also loved Romarnic Ranger but in the trot up spent most of his time waving to the crowd.

Sadly Contido was not there today that I saw. Liked Adonnis one to watch and Valeur R.

Wow thats a list! Can see I enjoyed the day and I hope it continues and grows next year!!

Loved Veni Vidi Vici, but had a mild dish and screwed his back end while jumping. Def haven't ruled him out though. Russell didnt jump today, although have seen him jump before and can throw in the towel occ. Peppermill's handler seemed very nervous of him in the trot up and was fresh to ride but endless scope and talent!!

I went to see the event stallions, in particular, Uptons Deli Circus who didn't disappoint! What a super little horse, looking more like an 8 year old than 20 and shown off beautifully. Cemented my decision to use him on my mare this year!
Also liked Chilli Morning very much and thought Up With The Lark was a lovely type. Not seen him before and was very smart.
Was also impressed with Winsten V, the photos in the catalogue did him no favours and thought he was light on his feet, flashy and much nicer under saddle.
Very much looking forward to getting my mare in foal with Circus- know there was lots of grumbling on the other thread, but I think it was a very useful day and great to see such a selection in hand and ridden. Some stallions were totally different from photo, to in hand, to working! Well worth seeing them all in the one place.

the sound system was crap! russell looked very tatty compared to when he was competed!it was cold and lacked atmosphere but should be a very good show case in future years! (venue not the most accessible) uptons deli circus is lovely, much loved and beautifully mannered! chilli morning is very talented, and lovely in the box, and nick thinks highly of him and had time to talk to you!!! Zilandro was stunning but JW lacked communication! peppermill fantastic jump!monte carlo looked superb and full of beans! lots of choice!

I posted on the other thread but can copy it into here-

Chilli Morning- I thought he looked mega and he was my joint favourite of the whole day. He just looked awesome, went nicely and really jumped.

Grafenstolz- I didnt expect to like him but I did. He looked good.

Monte Carlo- Looked very impressive but was rather excited, esp when he ditched his leader!

Peppermill- Had springs in his feet thats for sure!

Temple Akropolis- Again, I didnt think I would like him but he was very impressive in the flesh and over a fence.

Treliver Decanter- Was my other favourite of the day. He was so amazing in real life. The pics of him just dont do him justice. Really impressed with him. Such lovely paces and real presence in the arena, not to mention his beautiful colour.

Uptons Deli Circus- Was lovely. He just looked so honest, like he would do anything for his jockey. I asked to take him home with me but his owners said no!! Cracking little horse.

So for me it was Chilli Morning and Treliver Decanter, they were both mega.

I took some videos but Im just lacking enthusiasm to put them on the internet!!!

Hi have 'borrowed ' my husbands log in again, note to self must get one for the stud!

Thanks to so many of you for the lovely things you have said about one of my stallions, Contido. I am sorry he wasn't there today, we did tell the organisers we could only make Saturday due to competition commtiments. The rubbish pics are all my fault though, we have recently moved to a new stud and haven't spent enough time competing or taking pics and the ones I have used are not good enough.

He is now off to France then Italy so I hope to have some better pics and videos then. Am not sure how much I can say without falling foul of advertising so if you want to know more please pm me.

i was there both days and have video and photos, but not very tech minded to get them uploaded! I really liked Wolkenderry as a young drsg stallion with fab tempreament, Chilli morning was much much better than i had thought, very nicely shown and talented over a fence (they had a large intermideiate skinny brush in the arena and even the bravest event horse may have thought it looked spooky and out of place but he jumped it off the corner off about 3 strides. the one i liked but havnt heard much feedback about was, Grupo Prom Castello, thoughts anyone???? also liked Romanov. and of course rachels Circus was a joy to watch. Also Zubin R was a nice type who had a lovely technique but then i do like Lupicor!

yes is was cold, arnt we used to that? the speaker system was poor on the sat but much better today, everyone was friendly and approachable, we should be applauding the effort and hopefully it will grow in standard and popularity. Its a shame there was block/missunderstanding on advertising in H&H as im sure more people would have attended if better advertised. looking forward to next year.

My OH was one of the photographers there, once KR has had first pickings there are plenty of fab pictures of your boy!!

I did not get to go but I am so glad that people are mentioning Monte Carlo as I was hoping to use him this year. Was also looking at Romanov II for my other mare next year but not much mention of him here (mind you I think the stud fee has just been raised out of my price bracket).

Nerys, i think my fav jumping stallion of the weekend was Romanov, and have never seen him before, he had a lovely technique and clean as a cat through the short distance double. I would use him if i hadnt sold my mares!!

I didn't stay until the end, so didn't unfortunately get to see all the stallions, however the stallion that stood out most for me was Woodlander Wavavoom. He was a wonderful compact, elegant horse, with fabulous rythmical paces and a wonderful uphill canter.

I also loved Uptons deli circus, I was so impressed with his attitude, to still be doing what he does at 20 is impressive!

Peppermill was also incredible, although at £1600 covering fee he needed to be!

I saw Decanter on Monday, I took my boy to be sorted and was surprised to see the stallion.
He was in his box and looked a bit zonked after his weekend away but very nice and I don't do warmbloods being a TB wonk.

well firstly there was 2 olympic showjumpers there, and randi who is a ledgend, but just a few issues firstly dont know why im wasting my time in replying to it but firstly...sare_bare??? when has russel thrown the towel in occaisionally?? as i think u will b mistaken as he never chucked it, and i think if u are referring to olympics, maybe you didunt realise h had done a tendon over there and still kept jumping.....oh and the OFCOARSEYOUCAN person, how was russel tatty?? owner was let down and had send him and get sum1s groom to do him, also do u really think a horse will b same shape retired as it would when jumping fit????oh then on to your jw comments, i mean god havre you only just realised john isunt the best talker, or have you just joined the sport?.....;-) x
