Well i have tried most stirrups there are

I recently bought some peacock safety stirrups and sold my flexi stirrups, but now i think i would like flexi stirrups again!
I was just having a 'safety conscious moment' when i bought the peacock stirrups, which is good, but i think perhaps the flexi stirrups are just as safe, but i just dont know.
Now i am looking at some really nice bent irons
What do you think?
I want the safety and comfort aspects combined, so which stirrups should i get and stick with?
Helpppppp

Thanks

peacocks are really for children, not adult weight.i like my flexi ones but in my mind my bent ones `feel` safer.

I used to ride with a pair of those stirrups with a rubber band ... are they the peacocks or are peacocks the ones where the rider's whole toe area is enclosed to stop the foot slipping through - we use those for RDA. Anyway - I had an accident with a rubber band stirrup where the band snapped on a hack. No spare. Your foot isn't very secure in one of those stirrups WITHOUT the band! I know, I know, I should have checked it regularly, carried a spare, etc etc! But I changed to bent irons and love 'em to bits! Same degree of safety but no rubber bands to snap!

it doesn`t matter about the rubber bands,it the fact that the metal can bend.
ages ago i remember seeing a friends pony get down to roll cos he was sweaty and he had stirrups made of old fashioned nickel.friend lept off and shouted at so he only managed a quick little roll but the stirrup was folded bent in half.
very dangerous,if foot had have been in there it would have been really stuck!!!

why are peacock ones not for adults?surely it would say if they wernt safe, i have always ridden in them and belive they are the safest type - always worked for me

I had some peacocks a few years ago - I wasnt aware of the weight issue then. The horse rodeod with me and somewhere along the line the stirrup bent quite dramatically and I ended up flat on my back.
Peacocks are only suitable for weight upto about 9.5 stone I believe - I could be wrong on the weight - but it really annoys me that this is not advertised anywhere.

Thanks guys, i was thinking about what if the rubber band broke, i am 10.5stone not 9.5stone so that is a little worrying that it is not advertised that they are for that weight and under!
Am definitely gonna get some flexi stirrups again, wish i hadn't sold mine, i would go for the bent irons but my ankle does get very stiff and painful, and i think the flexi would help this best
anymore for anymore?
