Please can you tell me which supplements you buy and if you get them online and whether you buy from the same company or go for the cheapest. :) Many thanks for everyones help......trying to get my new business up and running!! :D

I feed my boy a balancer ( spillers original ) so i know he gets the correxct amount of all vits and mins each day , the only other extra suppliment he gets is biotin plus ( equimins ) as he needs extra hoof support. Equimins products are very reasonable in price whereas some manufacturers seem to be well expensive. Spillers balancer is about £28 / bag and this lasts approx a month - so good value really.

What supplements does your horse need?

I give my boy Extraflex by Feedmark - his previous owner gave him it because she did a lot of xc with him and I just kept it up because supple joints are so important and he is now 14.

I also give him Dandelion, he had a horse whisperer to him a few months ago (not intentionally - but long story) and he "told" her he had a bad gelding and had stomach and in particular bladder problems. He does seem a happier boy since he has been on it, peed a lot to begin with which I imagine was a very good thing to flush his kidneys but that has settled; he just seems better in himself. I get it from Feedmark as well, they are brilliant as a company, deliver next day and ALWAYS have special offers on, 30% off if you buy over £30 for example.

Can't recommend them highly enough - have used them for years and years. A previous horse had terrible feet so I gave her Hardy Hoof which they supplied, didn't really produce a miracle but didn't do any harm either!!

Yes, you order online, register and order using a credit or debit card, it retains your details so next time you order it is zippy quick.

But I wouldn't give supplemnets for the sake of it - you can always ask these companies Feedmark/Equimins etc for advice.

Feedmark. Tried others but always go back to them, they might not be the cheapest but the quality is excellent and more importantly for me customer service is second to none.
I was buying Brewers Yeast and Rosehips for the horse, now just Rosehips as his new feed has yeast added but I also buy the dogs Agility supplement for my oldies.

mine gets superflex, garlic, veteran supplement and electrolytes when needed.
I usually buy mine from derby house as I know they'll have them in stock

Garlic :D
I am also considering a calmer but I am shopping around at the minute.
Discount Equestrian is always has known brands at a cheaper price. (Just type them into google). Also fantastic for rugs at the end of the season. Got my Masta 425g Stable rug for like £35

From Charnwood Milling: whole, ground microionised linseed, seaweed and brewer's yeast

From Barefoot Basics: magnesium oxide, rosehips and milk thistle (doesn't get the latter all of the time)

I bought the stuff from Charnwood Milling because they were recommended by lots of people and can buy in bulk so works out cheaper. I buy the other stuff from BFB because they work out about the cheapest for those particular products and I know the quality is good. Buy all of it online, can't be bothered with trying to get it from local shops/feed merchants as they never have what I want.

I use:

Cortaflex
Pink Powder
Naf Mint & Garlic
Equine America Magnitude
High Barn Linseed Oil

Supplements that I've used temporarily for specific reasons (that I would happily use again in the future if required): Super Fen, More Muscle Pellets.

I get mine all from one of the local feed shops as they are the cheapest in the area and I avoid delivery charges by buying locally, but I have bought supplements online from various companies- if need their names please let me know!

I buy Hoof Power Plus - get it from my local saddlery as its en route to the yard. If it counts, also have a Horslyx garlic mineral lick which from the state of his sticky chops my horse enjoys!

Turmeric from Sainsbury's - I'm lucky that the local store is in the Asian area and they have all spices in bulk packages.

Garlic - from the local feed store.

Agnus Castus - From a seller on ebay, for her hormonal moments.

Pink Powder - Prevents trapped wind:eek: and utilises her feed as she can be stressy and lose weight quickly.

Pink Powder
D&H Equibites
Brewers yeast
NAF Devil's relief
Global Herbs SuperSkratch

Mostly buy from local stores occasionally online if I spot a bargain!

My Welsh D gets fed Top Spec Lite feed balancer (costs £23 per bag from local merchants) and as an addition he gets Dobson and Horrell Echinacea (£13.99 per tub from Countrywide) to boost his overall immune system as he's starting to get on a bit!

he look fab on it so they must work!

I use Naf haylage balancer, my 30 year old that has teeth missing needs haylage to keep the weight on, but it does give him the squits, Naf was the only one that dried him up permanently, all the others I tried worked for a few days.

We use:

Cortaflex
Garlic Granules
Linseed Oil
Cod Liver Oil
Yesac

We get the garlic from the local WCF, Cortaflex from the local tack shop as it is basically the same price everywhere (would love to get it cheaper!); the oils and yesac are options at the yard so we do not have to buy these in. I have just started using horse health for oxy shot calmers and will probably start using them for the rest of the supplements as they offer rapid delivery and are reliable.
