Through all this really dry weather we are having, our sand paddock, which is just silica sand at the mo, has become unrideable -it's really deep and dusty. I know as soon as it rains it will be fine again, but I'm now considering an additive like flexi ride or combi ride or even rubber. I have very little experience of any of these types of surfaces, so any information good and bad would be much appreciated!! Does anyone have combi-ride as I'm swaying towards this at the mo. :D

Rubber won't make much of a difference as it doesn't help retain water. You need a fibre type additive, but I am not sure what Flexiride or Combiride do, sorry.

However, the easier and cheapest thing to do is to water your school. Take a fencing post, add two pieces of wood at the bottom to form an X so that it stands upright, if needed add a plastic electric fencing post to increase the overall height, stick a 360 degree rotating garden sprinkler on top and, depending on water pressure in your area, this should do a 20m circle.

That's great, thanks for the advice! Can't believe I find myself hoping for rain when all I've done all winter is long for the sun!!
