Hi,
I'm looking to buy a second hand trailer, just to travel to local shows and rides, nothing long distance. Have a chunky 16h and a 12.2h...will sometimes be taking them together, but most of the time will be travelling them seperately to events.

Which would be a good trailer to accommodate both options? Have been recommended the IW 510 or 511 but don't know a great deal about them tbh.

Both horses have travelled ok in the past in a trailer, but never together. When they travel together , would the weight difference on each side be a safety concern??

Any advice or comments greatly appreciated :) xx

I have travelled a 16hh horse and an 11.3 pony in a 505 and a 511. Obviously the 511 is far more roomy, sideways and height wise, so would be my trailer of choice.

I don't find weight to be an issue as I regularly travel with just one horse anyway. I always put the heavier horse on the right hand/drivers side of the trailer (the inside of the road).

I have a head divider for my trailer, but I don't use it very often!

HTH

I have taken similar sizes in our bayhill with no problems, I am probably teaching you to suck eggs, but put the heavier horse on the drivers side :)

I am still amazed by single horses/ponies being on the passenger side !!!

We have 510 and travelled ours between 12h and 17h in it without problems. My 16h middleweight ISH travelled perfectly well in a 505, but the 17h would never have fitted in.
