Which trailer would you buy?

I'm hoping to be able to buy a new trailer (or maybe nearly new) next spring. At the moment I have an old Rice Beaufort. I bought it quite cheaply on ebay and after having it serviced it has done me well for the last year - used almost weekly.

I have my daughter's 14.2hh pony to take in it and occasionally take a 13hh too.

So if you were trailer shopping which would you buy and why?

I'm an Ifor kind of girl. They always seem to hold there value when secondhand. They are relatively lightweight and easy to look after. If money was no object then i would quite fancy a Equi-trek. because they are lovely big trailers with the bonus of some living.

Ifors are good because they are lightweight but this also makes them easy to steal. I bought a Rice because of the build quality although the newer ones are not as good as the older ones. They also are less attractive to thieves.

I bought a Henra because they can step down either side at the front as my horsey jumps the ramps. The back door can either be a ramp or a door so that can take loads from a forklift. It only weights 750k and takes 2 17hh horses

I was going to buy a Wessex but as it was my first trailer and I wanted to make sure I chose the right one I hired one first. I was really impressed until the 2nd time we used it, the middle pole that holds the centre partition in place came out of it's hole and the whole lot fell over and was leaning on my horse

. I took it back to the place we hired it from (which also sells them) and we couldn't understand how it had happened. My horse travels well, the roads around where I am are good.....

When we actually looked at how much of the centre pole sits through the bottom of the trailer it is tiny in comparison to an Ifor, so perhaps my horse lent on it slightly and it must have just popped out (aren't they supposed to be built to withstand this!). For that reason I ended up opting for the Ifor Williams, i've used it regularly since i've had it and so far never had a problem.
Just something to add into the mix.........

Richardson Rice

I have to say I do like my current Rice trailer - it's just rather scruffy and rattly now. Looking on the site though the Richardson trailers are different to the Rice ones.

I feel the Rice ones look rather 'old hat' and the Richardsons look a lot like Ifors!

Bateson

This should have been listed in the poll - I forgot about them! Even though someone at my yard has one.

I do like them and I like that the outer coating is sun/heat resistant. But some of the other makes are doing that now too.

Henra

Never heard of these so had a quick look at the website. Very attractive and 'modern' styling which I like but not sure about the partition in the middle - it looked a bit flimsy, but I expect it's one of those thing you need to go and look at properly.
