That depends on which Ifor you are talking about, how many horses you are intended to travel and how big they are, as well as whether you are buying new or second hand. The Batesons are larger than the smaller two-horse ifors (505/605) and they have the front ramp on the opposite side to the older Ifors, which makes unloading the horse on the RHS of the trailer easier. I've had both makes and I prefer the Bateson personally, but I had a big horse and only ever travelled him on his own.

I bought a Bateson just before Christmas and am delighted with it. Its easy to tow and my horse seems to travel well in it, even though she had only been in a lorry before. The latest model of Ifor doesn't get such good reviews as the older ones which might be an issue if you are buying new. It also means the second hand, older model are now quite expensive.

i love my ifor but i wanted a single trailer - and the ifor classic is the best single trailer - the others were too flimsy, too lightweight, or too narrow - so for a single def ifor - plus hold value well too!

I've just bought a Bateson Deauville after carefully researching weights etc. It's a really nice trailer and my horse(who doesn't particularly like travelling) is quite happy in it. The central partitions are a doddle to remove and replace and it's light, bright and airy. I drove 300 mile round trip to collect 2 Shetlands and I hardly knew the trailer was there.
