OK, the Yaris is sold and I have got myself a suitably pimped 4WD. The Green Goddess (lorry) is up for sale. Next task is to buy a trailer.

Been offered an Ifor HB403 (single horse trailer). I like the idea of a single as it should be better balanced that a double with just 1 in.

I also like the look of the Equi-Trek Space Treka M.

Any thoughts?
 
It depends on budget n how big ur horse is? I got a 5 year old ifor williams 505 i had it for 10 years fantastic trailer but new horse is too big for it so have just bought an ifor williams 511 i am really pleased with it even after hearing bad reviews on them i paid less for it than wot you would pay for a 510!! :D i only ever travell 1 horse was told the single trailers arent as stable as double? my friend has top spec equitrek but i prefer my ifor williams.
 
I far prefer a double trailer, the trailer is wider & thus more stable. It's also more useful for carrying other things, collectiung hay & bedding etc. Additionally I believe they maintain their value better & the market for them is larger should you ever decide to sell.

As for the best trailer, have a look at the Bateson Deauville. It's a well engineered, light but very stable trailer. The ramp is low, there's a couple of saddle racks at the front, it's light inside & very inviting for the horse to enter. The floor is composite & will not rot. They hold their value incredibly well also. :)
 
Not considered Bateson. 1 of the local dealers does them so I will have a look thanks.

Only 1 enquiry about the lorry so far. She wanted the length of it, but decided it was too long for her drive...
 
2nd phone enquiry today about the lorry. The woman said "I am calling about the car". Me: "Its a 7.5T private HGV horsebox, not a car." "Oh, I thought you were selling a car."

Answers on a postcard...
 
I have a Bateson Ascot too - fantastic trailer, infact a friend has just picked it up and said how nicely built it is and how big compared to their Ifor 505.

Interestingly, my mare really struggles to stay standing in an Ifor, but is foot perfect in a Bateson.
 
With reagrds to the single trailers, they are the same hight as the double versions but with a much wider stall.

For example the chavel liberte single has a 7'4 internal height and a 1250mm internal stall compare that to a Bateson double and its alot narrower (per stall).
 
I have a Bateson Ascot and love it. Low to the floor light and easy to move if you back your car slightly out (which I do all the time), its very easy to pull across to hitch up! Tack box built into the front also which is a massive bonus. Had lorry then Ifor Williams which was stolen and was pleased really cos didnt like the Ifor - heavy to tow and used so much petrol LOL

I am going past (almost) the local Bateson dealer on Saturday as I am going to Rotherham for a 1st fitting of my shiny new toy. Not that I am excited or anything...
 
I have a Bateson and love it! not an Ifor fan at all,had one in the past. Will be getting a Equitrek soon i hope as can't fit my fatty and another horse in the Bateson,he's that wide!!! Will be sad to see it go as it's been faultless.
 
Had my cheval liberte single trailer for 2 years now and love it!! Can also tow it on new car licence and gives horses a really nice ride thanks to the pullman suspension. Its also much wider than the single ifor and more inviting for the horse to load into. I have a 15.2 and he has plenty of room in it I can even tack up in it! They are also better spec as standard than the single ifor and hold their money well.
 
I have ordered my new trailer from the local dealer and it will be ready in a week or so. No hurry as Charlie is only just off box rest and the lorry is still unsold. Looks like it will be the scrap yard for the old girl...
 
Broken-Arrow, I think I had that same woman ring me about a pony for sale last week. She asked where we were, and I said just North of Manchester. "oh", she replied, "thats not too far from London is it??":rolleyes:
 
If your budget will stretch to the equitrek and your vehicle is big enough, get that. You wont regret it! I like mine because it's easy for a single person to take out, and you can safely get your horse on without haveing to have any one else helping behind. The spring loaded ramp is lovely and light, and the tack area is very handy too.
