Hi all, currently have a Renault master box but thinking of changing to a trailer, can anyone recommend the best to get? It’s a minefield, will be towing with a land rover Discovery sport, thanks

You don't say the size & build of your horse. Years ago I had a 16h2" and I bought a Bateson Deauville. They tow really well, really smooth, they don't clatter as they go along like Ifor Williams do. They are light & welcoming for the horse to walk on. It has a couple of saddle racks in the front as well. If you ever need a part the company do everything to help & customer service is great. I'd probably have the trailer now but we bought another horse & he was 16h3" & a chunky monkey. I felt with the two big lads I would be better with a lorry so I sold it.

We've just bought a cheval liberte trailer with a tack locker thing at the front. Never considered them before I looked into the reviews...99% are incredibly positive and apparently they give a better ride than ifors. We have a fussy loader so anything that makes it easier is a bonus! They have great suspension and give a really smooth ride buy all accounts. We went to a local dealer and had a good look at them and we were really impressed. It arrives on Sunday!

Have a search on here, there were fab reviews of them 😀

Thank you, yes was looking at these, mines an ex racer and went over the breast bar of my horsebox, now thankfully he have recovered, changed my lorry to a Renault master and he’s traveled ok in it but still don’t think he’s happy so thought I would try a trailer, spoke to his old trainer and he said he traveled in anything so hopefully it was just a one off incident, think I’m more nervous than him now when we travel anywhere 😬

We brought a Cheval Liberte last year, it's our first trailer, lovely to tow, horses travel well in it, the ramps are easy to put up, inside is light with plenty of ventilation in it, the tack locker is very handy as well.

I had an equitrek and loved it. would still have it now if we hadn't bought a lorry. Really well built and towed really well too. It was an older model but I loved it. My livery has a chevel liberte which I've borrowed a couple of times. I think they are built to reduce weight as much as possible. I'd go and see one or hire one for a weekend before making any decisions. I'm possibly a bit old school and prefer a heavier trailer that feels more substantial.

I've also heard good things about Nugent trailers but when I rang them they said to call back in 3 months when stock would be sent!

Are you planning on buying new or second hand? What is your budget? I have a Bateson Ascot and previously had a Deauville, I would highly recommend them.
