As title, do you use floppy wraps, harder mark todd type boots etc.

I have to buy some soon and dont know what to get.

Used to have the Mark Todd ones but they got damaged when lent to someone..... they paid me for them but I didnt replace them... but now I need some.

I would like them to be easier to wash than the MT ones (hence the floppy question) but to be easy to put on and above all safe.

Merlin does not travel too well and managed to half pull off a shoe on wednesday.... so I was favouring the ones with the shell round the hoof, but not sure if the hard ones are making him fidget in the trailer.

Please help me

Or if anyone has some nice cob size ones that need to be rehomed.... let me know how much you want for them Pics please....

I had some floppy type one's that I didn't like as they kept slipping down, and I wondered if they would offer any protection at all if something happened.
I'd love to buy some rigid type one's like Mark Todd or the Premier Equine one's but someone told me they are horrible and too solid!!

Apparently the cheap one's from Lidls are brilliant and just right. They were only £14 too, I'm hoping they will have some more in soon.

Depends on the horse I suppose.

Gov will kick out if I put something like Mark Todd travel boots on him so I use the floppy Poly pad ones and he's been fine. Though I can see how they give less protection but if I was worried i'd put over reach boots all round.

I prefer the harder ones with the shell at the bottom. I find they last much longer...well with my horses anyway

I once had a soft pair which lasted one journey

Seahorse.... I tried not using anything on wednesday after reading some posts about how they make some horses travel badly...... ended up with a half pulled off shoe

and no hack!!! So decided not to try that one again

I couldnt use the ones I had as they were too big... nice purlpe Mark Todd ones..... full size though, not cob which is what he needs

I like Mark Todd or the Woof Wear (they do 2 types, one with 3 straps which I like and one with hundreds! Which I hate)

I don't like floppy ones, they slip and move around which makes them pointless and horses can panic more. However the poly pad ones are meant to be excellent, so I think they are designed better than the ones I've seen. You get what you pay for!

Personally, I like the polly product ones. Cover the knees and hocks without shape, but firm enough to stay up. Got one set that about 10years old and still going strong

I feel safe with the harder type boots, and these are all i have ever used....... I have a set of polo bandages that I could try, but dont feel they would give the same protection???

I also am lazy!!!!

After much trial and error (not to mention expense!) 2 of my horses have Premier Equine boots, excellent value for money and super fit on TB type legs, 1 has Shires boots, but the old sort with lots of velcro tabs (she has had them for 7 years, does a lot of travelling to comps lesson etc and they still wash up good as new) and the Welsh cob has a set of the Woof Wear ones as they were the only ones that I could find that were the correct length and still fitted around his tree-trunk legs ........ oh yes and the Shetland has bandages, have yet to find a set of boots that are a good fit and that small

I use one of three options;

1. nothing.
2. brushing boots with overreach boots- usually if planning to ride straight away at the other end.
3. neoprene turn out wraps- quicket, easiest and offers good protection.

Following on from your 'pulled shoe' episode, could you not just use over reach boots alone?

Don't like travel boots, and most horses aren't keen either.
