Which turnout rug when?

I only really use 2 different rugs on my mare....she has a medium weight one she is in now, more for rain and wind than heat. Then she has a Bucas rug that is very good at regulating temperatures, that she will have on when it get 'properly' cold! She has never come in too hot or too cold with that one....I couldnt cope if I had too many to choose from!

No, I've never had any trouble. It has two velcro tabs at the neck and two clips that attach to the metal loops where the fillet string also attaches. So it's attached to the outer rug at four places. The neck comes off too, if you don't need it. :)

For clipped horses I use:

mild autumn and spring days: W/beeta landa light weight/no fill

Colder autumn/spring days: W/beeta landa med/light 100grms fill with neck cover

Winter: W/beeta landa med with 220 grms fill with neck cover

Both of mine are cob types and find the weather beeta reasonably priced and a good fit. Both are fully clipped throughout the winter, and if it gets very cold, all I do is put both the med weight and light/med weight on to create a heavy weight.

Hope that helps!

Exactly the same as Sidney, two cobs clipped in winter 100grams on warmer days and 220 with neck cover in the cold. They were both living out when it was minus 12 and snowing in their 220gram rugs with trace clips. Everyone commented on how well they looked coming out of winter.
