Which type of cobs for showing?

Can someone please tell me which types of cobs I have, as I would like to take them low level showing (if covid allows) this year? Also can you give me tips on how each type should be tuned out with regards to mane/feathers etc.

I’m pretty sure my 12.1h coloured would be classed as a ‘traditional cob’, but is he too small?

Then my 15h palomino (looks grey because he’s fully clipped) was sold to me as an Irish cob cross. Although the saddle fitter said his rib cage resembles the shape of a Connemara’s, and he was bred in County Galway by a man that breeds Connies ??‍, however his breeding is unknown on his passport. But as a cob, would he fit into the traditional, native or show cob category? Or none, because he’s a crossbreed (bearing in mind I’m talking about low level, local shows)?

At local you could do cob classes with the coloured he is a bit small but at local level it doesn't mater, you either leave him as a traditional with hair as he is or you clip and hog.

The palomino I would be tempted to do riding horse, riding club classes or odd coloured classes then you would plait and pull tail, you could even possibly do a ridden hunter class at that level it's not that strict.

And if your a real novice at showing they can both do the ridden novice classes.

Do coloureds for the little guy- his size won’t matter then The pally looks closest to a small hunter to me but of course there’s classes for that colour too. There’s often ‘family pony’ ‘riding club horse’ type classes they’d both fit into too.

Thanks! So with the pally do you recommend feathers on, off, or just a little bit of feathering on the back of a fetlock (like they do with Welsh Section D’s) for riding club horse type classes? I don’t want to hog his mane, but would a short mane suit his type of classes better than the long, traditional mane?

For me feathers off and plait the mane
