Which way round is this girth?

I would put the more spiky bit to the front.

It has a backward curve so that when it is out on, it gives the back edge more space. That will help it conform to a pot belly so it doesn't ram forwards.

It's a Heritage copy of a Harry Dabbs Jaguar, I think, and the buckles on a curved girth always point forwards. When you pick it up and hold it curved as if it was on the horse, the bottom should be the most forward piece. They are good girths.

Not always - http://sbtechsaddles.co.uk/mattes-girths/

I think you're probably right, the top edge has elbow spacing. I will say that many girths can be used either way around depending on whether there is enough space for the elbows, but in this case I do think it's intended for saddles that run backwards.

Thanks all! If I hold it from the buckles as if it's on the horse the side on the top of the photo does look slightly forwards but only slightly, wasn't sure if it was just how I was holding it though. It does have a faint jaguar stamp on it, in the orientation of the photo the stamp is upside down which was also confusing me!
