I am having my mare transported from England to france 12-14 hour journey depending on traffic.

One company will pick her up on Sunday and stable for 2 nights before leaving for the ferry on Tuesday. And the other will collect on Tuesday and deliver straight from pick up.

She currently lives out 24/7 but does stable well however prefers to be out grazing as most do. She was supposed be staying at he sellers yard until move date but due to one thing or another I had her moved to a yard near by my home just over a week ago. This makes me think all the upheaval she's had already and the journey ahead she could probably do without the stable part included?! What do you all think would be best? I'm swaying for the the Tuesday pick up and directly traveled option myself just wanted to get other views too x

In an ideal world the Tuesday pick up would be best - but horses do seen to adapt very well, so whatever you decide will be fine.

I would make sure that she was having a little hay/haylage every day before she goes and if possible cut out her hard feed if she is having any.

Mine travelled from Cornwall to Scotland - three day trip - and they came off the lorry looking like they had been round the block. Use the best transporter you can, it will make a big difference to how well she travels :)

Thank you, I thought so to. I do worry about here as she hasn't had the best of care untill now from what I can gather so I just want to make sure she is happy now. Can't wait to get her out there and spoil her like she deserves.

Both transport companies have been reccomened on a frencH facebook page for equine owners in france and arnt cheap either so I think they will be ok. Such a big scary move but will all be over this time next week! X

Only comparing my own experience with that of a friend, would go for the pick up Sunday. My mare virtually unhandled, never before stabled. So relaxed after two day trip. Friend who did same day delivery not so happy.
