I have these and today it dawned on me that I might be using them the wrong way round!

these racks are designed to take your saddle 'back to front' ie, cantle at the wall. They are prodiminantly for forward cut jumping saddles so that the flaps dont get mishapen when pushed against the wall

The ''wither'' shape for the pommell means that a forward cut saddle will not get scratched or squashed against the wall.
 
I have one, cantle to the wall, pommel on the higher end - bit back to front. Stops the flaps from being scratched on the wall. I have the forward cut jumping saddle on it as the flaps used to get a bit scuffed.
 
Which is what I finally figured out today - doh! Have owned these racks for years, but out of habit just always shoved the saddle on with pommel to the wall. However, I moved them today, and took a look at them as I was re-hanging them and thought "hang on, something's not right here...."

For some reason though it's really hard to put your saddle on the rack backwards! So I have compromised, the forward cut is going on with cantle to the wall, but the dressage saddle is going pommel to the wall

Phew, it was a very exhausting and stressful day
