Which way.........?

I have a bit of a blank canvas with my grounds (bar a big polytunnel bang in the middle of the plot!) I am considering various horse related uses for the plot and really want to get the layout as good and as planned out as I can get it.

Can anyone tell me which way should a shelter face??? That way I can identify potential locations and work the rest out from there.

Prevailing winds in Britain are westerly so shelter should face East. It's the Westerlies that bring the rain, Easterlies bring the cold.

South facing is a disaster in summer, though.
Easterly is best but if that's not very suitable it can be swivelled a bit to the south.

Having said that, the places our horses choose to stand about snoozing tend to be on the east of large hedges or fences and not where we put shelters. In short, you can't choose for them!
