Which wellies to buy?!

The main problem with modern wellies is that they are not made of rubber anymore! I had a pair of ancient wellies they were probably 15 years or more old & eventually the heels wore down to nothing so they had to go. All the new wellies seem to be mate from pvc nitrile which is waterproof but seems to split where your foot bends. I have tried numerous neoprene boots, wellies etc & have yet to find a decent waterproof boot at reasonable cost. I will not pay £170 for Le Chameau etc. You shouldn't have to spend that kind of money to keep your feet dry plus I & many others cannot afford that amount.

I just bought some Muckboots yesterday, after suffering from damp sock syndrome. I have never paid so much, but since I wear them every day for a long time and walk the dog I thought I might try some more expensive ones, having got through 2 pairs so far this winter.

I find the very cheap ones rub my feet and I have had expensive ones before that didn't last too well and Hunter wellies aren't the same as they used to be.

These are light to wear and warm, so far, so good.

Wow thank you guys for all your opinions. I've always been a cheap and cheerful welly girl, but got through 3 pairs this winter which just isn't fun. (Plenty of wet feet!)
That's why I was thinking of spending a bit more but have to say I am swaying from extreme to the other. Dunlops or Aigle pacours?!?

Should add I don't ride or drive in them, just walk and muck out and hang out at home with the kids in them.

I'm now on my 3rd pair of Ariat Mudbusters. Pair one lasted about 4 years but only got used regularly for yard stuff for about 2 years of that, pair 2 (the posher version) lasted about 2 years before splitting and current pair are on their second winter. I like that I can ride in them if I want to (although I recognise this is what kills them eventually as where they split corresponds with where they crease when riding in them) and they keep my feet warm without getting horrid and sweaty (I can't abide neoprene linings as they just end up wet and minging ime).

I did look at the Aigle Parcours last time I needed new wellies but sadly the ones that fit with what I wanted don't come in my size annoyingly. (I'm a 4.5/5 and the ones I'd want only start at size 6!)

I like my Hunters, they are so comfortable, now onto my third pair. They only seem to last a couple of years, but I always buy in sales so I can live with that. The ones I have at the moment are the ones that are shaped a bit like riding boots, half neoprene outside and neoprene lined. With daily use they are well into their second year and good as new.
