Hi, for the past 1 and a half years I was on a yard where ther has been a basic worming programme that most owners have stuck to, but there are a lot of poor looking horses and horses changing fields I am not so confident that my 19 yo Arab mare is as worm free as she could be.
I have just moved yards and am now going onto their worming programme. They have just bought in some Pramox.
I've heard quite a lot of worrying stories about the use of Pramox in possibly worm burdened horses. Could someone recommend another, safer wormer? I was thinking of Panacur 5 Day Guard, does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks for reading.x

Fecal egg count your mare and do a tapeworm blood test to establish where she is worm wise and then you will be able to devise a worm plan or you are risking a resistance problem.

Sorry can't advice on the Panacur 5 day.

However assuming you are wanting a wormer to combat tapeworm, I have changed to Equitape, as like you have got 'jittery' over Pramox. I still use Equest for the summer and winter worm.
