Hi everyone.

I have got a new TB who i think needs worming - however his last owners dont know when he was last wormed - so i dont know which one i should have.

Any help would be appreciated - thank you.

I would do Panacur 5 day as you've no idea when he was last wormed but I don't think it does tapeworms which is what you should be doing round about this time of year. So I would check with whoever sells the wormer and would probably do Equest Pramox a couple of weeks after the Panacur. This should cover you for everything then. Do check with a qualified PML supplier though.

I would tapeworm him (since worm counts dont work for tapeworms) , and prob get a worm count done for a dung sample for the other types of worms.

Careful with overloading wormers one after the other, my horse became extremely ill from this and has never fully recovered. Do worm when needed but (except for tapeworm) worm counts best before you worm, will also help avoid wormer resistance.

i would use equset paromox this will do all the round and small worms plus tape enysted pin worms lung worms stomach worms bots and loads more then wait 13 to 14 weeks and get him dung sampled then you will no where you are with a worming programme!

I would do a worm count first to get some idea of what you are dealing with before I stared worming. If it comes back not too bad and he is healthy they I would use equest pramox which does everything.

If a very heavy burden, or he is in not great condition, then I would use the pancur 5 day treatment, and then worm for tape and next time use the equest. Then would worm count again and go from there.
