Whilst we are talking about horsemanship- take a look at this...

Isn't that the guy who's now doing a petition to stop horse riding all together because its cruel?!?! :S

But I have to admit, it is pretty impressive stuff.

erm nevzorov prob has a much worse rep and def more cult-like issues than the parellis. Whatever he does now there are plenty of not nice pics of him out there.

Yes he's been around for a while but I've never heard anything bad about him - news to me, what's been going on with him and his band of fairies?

Nevzorov Haute Ecole is WEIRD! The members aren't allowed to ride their horses anymore. I dislike the way he gets the horses on their backs and then stands over them.

sounds like another Russian dictatorship to me as he is clearly riding his horses in those videos.

I've seen a few videos of him and heard very good things.

I think what you say about the members not being allowed to ride their horses is an exaggeration based on fact, in that he appears to believe we should get everything working very well on the ground first before under saddle - so I think I remember him saying anyone wishing to follow his methods needs to be prepared to not ride for a year or more, in order to get the groundwork and understanding/trust up enough.

I think thats fair enough, seeing what he does from the ground with either no rope/tack or very little.

The only thing I wasn't too keen on was the emphasis he seemed to put on doing these rears, caprioles etc. it could well be just the videos showing that because its impressive, but to me he does more of that sort of stuff than the horse's anatomy ever was designed to do.

the second video I have seen dubbed in English - its not all about him but a documentary about the effect of bits in horse's mouths, how horses and riders have died in past accidents, folklore and fairytale vs science, and the physiological effect of bits and badly fitting saddles. He is featured in it but its about more than just his methods, if I remember correctly.

Echo he is a complete fruitloop and putting a horse on its back is very dominant

Maybe, or maybe its a demonstration of trust? Or a combination of both? we'd have to ask the horses themselves to be sure what went through their heads.

That's how it used to be, riding horses is no longer allowed.

Naturally, he has moved on from what you are saying to complete abandonment of riding - he is teaching horses Latin instead now *snort*
He is completely off with the fairies and PP seems fairly sane in comparison;)

Watched the first video, impressive stuff but a lot of them had there ears back when doing what they were asked..

I did notice the ears too.. hmmm seems i got the wrong idea here! he's not really achieving anything though by stopping horse riding- if he'd stuck to training without whips etc then he is at least showing something that people can learn from. (i doubt many are going to respect 'no riding') - and ... latin?!

Some of the most beautiful training I have seen but not really sure I can go along with the whole ideology, in that I wish to ride my horse! There is a lot to be learnt here though from this guys methods, and I would love to be able to get halfway to the level of training and communication that he has achieved. Some aspects appear very similar to NH techniques , he uses a stick, a lunge whip, a carrot stick or whatever you want to call it and also a lead rope on a string around the neck (Savvy string eq). I've also noticed the use of polythene bag on the end of the stick, (wand, carrot stick, lunge whip) too in some of his very impressive disciples videos on Utube. I for one am doing a bit more research in to the whole concept.

Well that's silly. I did think he was amazing when i first saw him. Apart from all the mystery and having to go and study with him to even know the basics of what he does. But... horses are too expensive to be kept as unridden pets by everyone. We might aswel get dogs really. So he now doesn't really have any chance of having a positive impact on the larger equine community. Even the Parelli followers live in hope of reaching stage 100 or whatever it is, where you can get back on your confused horse.

Shame, he's obviously a little crazy now.

Never mind Natch, before he turned batty I did admire him
