Since our lovely girl was PTS on Friday, I’ve been trying my best to keep it together – but I’m failing miserably today. I’ve re-filled her water bowl TWICE today (now put it away with her food bowl) and I popped out to the shop earlier with her lead wrapped round my neck. Was halfway down the road before I realised there wasn’t a dog to attach it to :o

I miss the evening romps in the park – and very fed up of explaining to the dog walkers I see everyday where the spangle is :( OH is away this week which is not helping matters – he’s hurting too but his work trips are so full on he doesn’t have time to dwell or be reminded of her not being here in the house. I’m fine at work...but I’ve still gone to jump in the car every lunchtime so I can go walk her. It hurts all over again when I remember.

Sorry for the moan, but it feels much better to get it out! We’re definitely not getting another dog for a while – but there are a few people who want us to dog sit over the summer months, so I should still get a doggy fix. Lurking in here is helping too, much more than I thought it would :)

Oh hun :( Many, many hugs ((((()))))

After we lost Barney I kept thinking I caught sight of him, whenever anything moved in the corner of my eye, and it always hurt so much to realise my mistake:( :( I would bring Henry over to you for hugs, but Scotland is quite a long way from Norfolk!

I waited a couple of months before looking for Henry, and that was the right time period for me.

More hugs ((((()))))

Huge hugs to you. It is so hard. I still have my other two and still get 3 biscuits out and end up in floods of tears. I sleep with her collar (daft I know) and sit and talk to her every day. It helps me so whatever works for you then do it.
Please don't feel you are whinging. I don't think tere is anyone on here who doesn't know how you are feeling and minds listening. J x

Sending you loads of hugs, it is hard enough to lose one when you have others, I cannot imagine what an empty house is like. I have done the too many biscuits thing so many times Mattilda , its awful isn't it.

When my parents and I lost our Tibetan terrier, my mum said that was it - no more dogs. I think she lasted 6 days before she had us marched off to the USPCA rehoming centre.

When my parents moved to Cork and left me behind in NI, I missed the dog nearly more than I missed them (I was 27 after all).

So so sorry for your loss, and I hope that dog sitting over the summer helps you start to come to terms with it.

Hugs

Fiona

- 12 years ago this summer but who is counting? - and lasted a whole 6 days before seeing the Sweepster and it was 3 weeks in total before he came home:D:D:D. You will know when the time is right or the right dog will find you - if its another spangle you will of course have no choice in the matter.......;):D:D:D

Thank you all for the hugs (including the whiffy ones :p) and kind words - I definitely was not a happy bunny yesterday :o Today is better, though I did mistake a fleeing mouse for the flick of a spangle ear earlier. OH is coming home a day earlier than previously planned so we're going to spend the weekend doing nice things together. (Sitting in a pub most likely)

I'm a "Never say Never" person - and there was a very stealable skinnydog :eek: outside Tesco earlier... We've definitely got a doggy future, we'll just see when the time is right :)

It is clearly way to early for you to be considering a new dog :eek::eek:- why else would you be thinking a skinny dog was stealable???:confused::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::D

More counselling needed...........;):D:D:D

How about a nice (in the loosest sense of the word) B&W Springer, free to any home whether it's nice or not... in fact the promise of regular beatings only makes it more attractive :D

Your house certainly wouldn't feel empty... trashed perhaps, but not empty :D

In all seriousness, Otto sends you big slurpy hugs (he's clean and dry too for a change, think yourself lucky!)
