I was riding regularly up until last year when i suffered a whiplash injury in a traffic accident. My GP advised me to stop riding and so i havent been near a horse for a year!! I have been examined by a specialist and he said i can now start riding again. (Woohoo)! Although i still suffer some degree of pain in my back i am keen to get back in the saddle. Has anyone else suffered this kind of injury and do you have any advice for me as to getting started?
Oh yes, the horse i will be riding is the same horse i was riding before. Any advice/tips will be much appreciated!!

Not a lot of help really but... I had whiplash years ago (fronm a dodgy fairground ride

) I wasn't riding at the time but I remember that for a long time after I got the 'all clear' it would still flare up again at the slightest thing so all I'd say is take it slowly and try and avoid 'high risk' situations at least for the first few months. Good luck and hope you continue to make a good recovery.

My whiplash from an RTA improved after a cracking head first fall of a horse with a very big buck!

Must have realigned something that was out of line....

Made a nasty noise though..... Landed like a javelin!!!
