thats why i have two black whippets...wouldnt have any other breed...but some can grow up to be mean hunters and have a high prey drive...chase anything that moves and no road sence...but certainly an allrounder dog and alot tougher than people think
haycroft, I know it sounds really mad, but do you think black whippets have higher prey drives than other colours? I have had two black greyhounds now who have both been nightmares for hunting, far more so than any of the others I have had - or is it just a coincidence

its usually the breeding..if they are working /coursing bred (and its usually blues/blacks) they tend to be higher prey driven BUT give any sighthound a bunny or anything that moves im sure most will give it a good run
Re black dogs - a riend who has bred lurchers and whippets for many years says that blacks never do well in the showring, so maybe they still have heir original 'drive' whereas others may have had it bred out? Just a thought...
