Whippet wardrobe

I use lightweight waterproof coats for the short-haired dogs if it is raining hard in spring/autumn, lined waterproof ones for them in the winter and fleeces for winter nights (the heating is off at night).
Long-haired and rough-haired lurchers would not normally wear anything. None of them wear anything if working, running or playing.

Mine have 3 coats each. One waterproof, fleece lined. One fleece and one lightweight fleece jumper. (roll neck sort) The Italian Greyhound has knitted PJ's as well at night time as she does feel the cold. I don't bother to coat any of them until I feel the cold and start with the lightest and work up with the weather if you follow. This seems to work okay for them. One of the whippets hates coats unless it's very cold and tries her hardest to rub it off so in her case we are guided by her. If she rubs it we take it off and if she doesn't then it stays put. The IG refuses to go out in the cold without her coat if things are really cold.

I don't tend to keep coats on the whippets indoors. The house is centrally heated after all. The IG's only has the pj's for night when the heating goes off.

Hope this helps.

I have one coat for each greyhound - a Blizzard coat which is waterproof with a fleecy lining. They only wear their coats when it is cold - if it is just wet then they go without - and they dont wear coats inside at all.

I must admit I'm unusual amongst greyhound owners I know :)

One waterproof for the truly awful wet weather, no indoor but plenty of snuggly blankets. If I was a more caring owner I would move to a house with an log-burner/open fire ;)

Erm I think my greyhounds now have about 5 or 6 each, had just the first 3 per dog for last 5 year's then I got coats my foster lurcher last winter and got a bit carried away shopping.
A rain Mac, double layer fleece, waterproof winter coat, a knitted greytsweater and a hand knitted coat by my mum. Hattie got a 'born to rock' fleece coat and Throp a tuxedo jumper with bow tie that matches his own coat.
Covers the seasons weather, mine don't like getting wet and in winter they do need extra warmth indoors when the heatings off. They all hang in a wardrobe with our coats.

1 each, waterprrof with a little bit of padding. They only get used for walking on the lead in the winter, and if we go racing or somewhere that they will be standing around in the cold. They spend most of their walks off lead going at 90mph and really dont need coats then. My young door will try and scrape his off on trees and things if I try and keep it on him :D

They definitely dont wear coats in the house! Its centrally heated and they spend most of their time asleep under a duvet any way :D

My whippet has 2 coats (though this will probably grow, not out of necessity, but out of my wanting to keep buying her things). One waterproof with a fleece lining and one fleece one. When it was really cold and windy last winter I would actually put both of them on together.

Both of mine have 6 coats/ jumpers / pj's each........

Ours have 2 each, one waterproof fleece lined for walking in winter, and one fleece to wear at night in the winter because the heatings off and they always knock the blankets out of their bed (thats if they haven't snuck upstairs to my bed!)
