When ever I see a whippet out on a walk - they always seem to have a little friend with them.. ALWAYS!!

Is it just me seeing double - or are they just so cute people always come home with 2?

Yep, you do literally go to see them wanting one, and come home with two!

It's so nice watching them play together when you take them for a walk, then they cuddle up together at night, and they keep each other happy so you don't have to feel guilty if you go out for a few hours!

But, double the trouble, and double the amount of socks that go missing

Two ? that's nothing. I had 5 at one time. When we used to go racing or coursing you would meet people who had 7 or 8 of them.

One lady had given up her dining room, and used it for all the dog beds.

They are excellent pets, good companions, good lap dogs, great sporting dogs, they are clean, they don't like to get muddy, they don't eat much, they rarely get sick. Why would you have any other breed ?

My whippet goes for walks on her own. I am trying to persuade OH to let me get a little friend for her though. Whippets love the company of other whippets. At the moment her best friend is one of my cats, the old Burmese, but she is a house cat and won't come for walks up the fields with us.

They are collectable, once you have one, you just want to go out and get one of each colour.

My girls absolutely adore each other and play together/sleep together/hunt together all the time. They brought down a deer together the other day

I think it's a pointy dog thing - the same phenomenon seems to apply for greyhounds and lurchers! I don't know what it is though, our lurcher seems perfectly happy being an only dog and yet we're considering another one. (He'll probably move out if he has to share the sofa!) Maybe it's because they really do seem to recognise each other and play differently from other dogs so you feel you're denying them if they don't have another pointy dog to hang out with.
