Whippletree Stud

This is a Cleveland Bay stud, now reducing numbers. I don't know any of the horses/youngsters for sale myself, but would think they would be well worth a look.
 
i've seen a nice looking irish sports horse on their website, and tried to get more information about it, and I haven't been able to find out much more than what is on the website. The lady on the phone says they are essentially giving up as they have lost interest.
 
I don't know about the stud, but as someone who has owned a couple of CB's and exercised another I would like to say that they are 'Indepenant Thinkers' and can be a handful if their brains are not kept occupied.

I'm not assuming that your happy hacker is a novice (or telling you not to buy one cos I wouldn't have anything else), but I would hate her to have problems because she couldn't offer the level of hardwork and variety which tend to be needed to keep a CB mellow and managable.

As the breeder told me when I bought my first - As a breed CB's like to work, the harder the better. The volume of work is directly proportional to how they behave.


Worth going to have a look though, I would love to be able to afford another one.
 
They have mostly young horses they breed themselves, I went to see one few months ago but though he had been away for schooling I never bought it as I dont have the knowledge to bring along a 4 or 5 year old. The horses were lovely though and a good reputation in cheshire. I ended up with 8 yr old Dublin ID X.I phoned them, woman on phone very nice
 
Thank you Shazza Babs - But we have has CB's for 25+ years now - and found them to be no trouble (Hence my mother being quite specific!)
She is no novice but is getting to stage where falling off she wouldnt bounce so well (if you know what i mean).

We look forward to finding another lovely calm and dependable CB, :)
 
I have a horse from there, I bought him at 5 yrs old last autumn, he is amazing, was brought on exceptionally well, has the best and bravest temperament you can imagine and I have nothing whatsoever negative at all to say - it is all good - really.
You may think I am paid by them or something but that is not the case, I am from east northants so have no connection apart from that I bought the horse.
She is utterly honest and will only give you full and correct information about each horse.
Go for it!
