OH went autumn hunting first thing this morning with our groom. I knew exactly where they were going to be. So I pulled my horse out of his stable for a dressage schooling session before work.

Wow! His back was lifted, his hocks were really underneath him, we had more lift in the canter than ever before and his half pass (well, left anyway) was starting to really reach. Very pleased with him, and not too hard on myself, I put him away after a few herbal treats.

Just finished when OH came back. Apparently he'd been misdirected to the meet. He arrived half an hour early to find the Master's SIL heading to our place (he knew it wasn't there). They eventually worked it out. They weren't a couple of hills away, but literally on the top of the ridge at the side of our yard. No wonder we managed to get such expression! Now, how do I get them to stay there. lol!

tallyho, I'd love to but I've given up jumping because of a spinal defect. Horse doesn't understand that - took him out hunting last year with no intention of jumping. No option but to jump everything in sight. Stop? Gate? You're kidding. No brakes either.

He loves it, but I'll leave it to my OH to take him out. Although he's a nightmare for me to hack afterwards - he still looks down the 'mountain of death' every time we hack along a particular track as it's apparently really fun to jump the fence at the top, bronc a few times and gallop madly to the bottom.

Dressage for me thank you very much. :-)
