I put it just over my fingers though, makes it a little harder to drop, but doesn't get tangled.

That's what i was thinking, it just vexes me that so many descriptions call it a wrist loop when it can cause all sorts of injury if put round the wrist

It's never been advised to place it around your wrist. The loop is only good for hanging it up!!

Not while you are on a horse!! Very easy to break a wrist if you fell off and it went at a funny angle!

This has been said for many years, but I do not understand why. I initially heard they did it incase it got caught on a tree, which to me was unlikely, and now falling and breaking your wrist which sounds even more unlikely.
