I think that's why I like them so much!!

Any dog will be as good with other animals as you make them. I've always heard people saying that Terriers and horses don't mix - my 3 JRs come with me down the farm and come riding with me. You have to put the effort and the training in - there's no reason why a puppy then adult wont be good with horses.

If you've got experience with Spaniels you'll cope with a Boxer

Try reading this, it will put to rest any mis-apprehensions about white Boxers.

They are just the same as any other Boxer, just the colour is different. The reason that they are not shown is that they don't meet the KC breed standard although they can be registered with the Kennel Club hence many white Boxers are now KC registered. Boxer Rescues do get some white Boxers through rescue but to be fair we also have our fair share of reds and brindles too. In fact, I have only homed two whites this year, in comparison with the dozens of coloureds. I have also known coloured pups to be deaf too, although there is a higher incidence of deafness in whites, much like dalmations really. One of our owners who lives with a deaf Boxer says it is no harder than living with a hearing dog, after all, unlike a human being, the dog does not know he is deaf, he doesn't know that other dogs are hearing dogs.

The problem often lies when no training is put in when the dog is a youngster, the owners often don't even notice that they have a deaf dog until the dog is almost a year old, they just think they have a disobedient puppy on their hands. Unfortunately, all the things the little pup does which is unacceptable behaviour is laughed at because the pup is 'amusing' and 'cute'. Once the dog becomes a young, powerful adult it starts to be a problem and then the dogs are, if lucky, handed in to rescue, or if unlucky, passed from pillar to post and classed as 'naughty', 'bad temperament', 'unruly' until they are finally PTS.

I know several Boxers who are around horses with no problems. As far as being 'sheep safe', all dogs should be on lead around sheep - I might be wrong, and please correct me if I am, I think it is a legal requirement to have your dog on a lead around sheep.

I am sure if you finish up getting a Boxer you will be pleased with your new addition, please shop around though and buy from a breeder who heart tests their breeding stock as many Boxers are prone to heart murmours. They should be tested heart clear to be bred from, word of mouth is not enough, you should see a copy of the certification or it should be on the parents pedigrees. Good luck in your search.
