Right, having decided to go completely over to the dark side and join the show jumpers I need new breeches to go with the new show jacket I am making and horror or horrors they need to be white

I have never in my life worn white breeches and have a horror of them showing every bit of cellulite and my knickers! What makes do everyone recommend to hide the cellulite and be thick enough so no one knows what colour my knickers are? Budget not really an issue but must have continental seat but that does not have to be suede/synthetic suede. Dont like pleats or the extra high waist and prefer a zip inset pocket.

Suggestions gratefully receiced thank you.

Congratulations on seeing the light!

I can't help, but will be interested in the replies as my only pair of white breeches met an untimely end a few weeks ago and I have been searching for a pair.

PS you can buy white knickers......

As a dressmaker I have been taught that under white flesh colour is acutally best so may have to try some of the big "trouser pants" from Primark in a fetching flesh colour.

That said, what a faff, on show mornings I am normally in such a rush I just open the draw and grab any old pair of pants!

Mountain Horse Aurora full seat are fantastic. Comfortable to wear but a nice heavy material so no VPL and supportive - and I can even wear black knickers under them (too much info, sorry!)

My budget deosn't stretch to Pikeur so went for Mark Todd breeches, these were £40, i have a pair with seats in, they are so comfortable, high waisted, zip, and wear very well. I've had mine along time now but they wash well. They are thick (but not thick), you can't see pants through them

Had some gorringe ones and they were rubbish!

OK this subject is close to my heart. for some reason, the breeches which look best on foot look rubbish on the horse because the slightly lose material goes into creases which looks baggy and horrible. I have had fabulous breeches made by Sporting Colours but they don't do anything for me when riding. I have tried Pikeur and many other expensive makes and they are the same. For me, the best ones on the horse are the stretchy ones which aren't very flattering on foot. Does this make sense? My latest purchase of 1 pair or Dublin white jodhpurs (I cut the bottoms off they are SOOO long) and 1 pair of Gorringe (sorry Horseywelsh) cheap as chips (both cost less than £35) and they look fabulous on the horse!!!!! Just wear long coats to check the scoreboard and buy my low cal lunch. Sorted!!!

OK will go for flesh in future.

Looks like I need to have a look at the Mountain Horse or the old favourite Pikeur. The Dublin ones are a definite no no if they are see through!

Now need to try and find a retailer who stocks both brands to save traipsing around. I have several pairs of Pikeur breeches but only like the microfibre fabric, the other stuff feels flimsy.

1 pair of Gorringe (sorry Horseywelsh)

[/ QUOTE ] no probs, everyone prefers different, good job or the world would be dull. I found the Gorringe didn't come high enough up my back and i was forever having to retuck shirt in when on horse, and pull them up when off horse (probably me having odd conformation

Can you get Ariat breeches here? I really like Pikeur and Eurostar but the last time I was looking I was pleasantly surprised by the Ariats. They were a very dense "brushed" material that didn't look like it would go "see through" like many synthetic breeches do.

il make my vote for dublins mine arent that see through ive worn most pastel colours underneath and it wasnt noticable (only if ive been a rush otherwise deffo flesh colour)

lookat it this way most people will be wearing white and most wont notice unless its really obvious (take a tip pink lace shorts dont work noooo not me but a fellow competitor !!!)

My white breeches are Caldene and I absolutely love them - nice and thick so they're not see through, they wash really well and are just lovely and comfortable, so I thoroughly recommend them.

However, I also love my pikeur breeches (but don't have them in white) and so can understand all the recommendations for them too! They're fab and nice and warm too!
