Human shampoo, I usually buy Alberto Balsam Coconut shampoo at 95p a bottle. Sometimes I get own brand baby shampoo too.
With the purple shampoo I have to have already completely clean legs then I lather up 1 leg, lather up the next leg and then rinse the first. Probably works out about 3 minutes. I'm not too precise but wouldn't wash all and then rinse all in case they had a blue tinge!

I’ve always used Alberto stuff but think I’m getting swayed by the yard using fancy stuff.
 
If you have one with pink skin & white feathers then you'll need to be very careful with what you use.

I haven't read all replies yet, but betcha someone somewhere will suggest pig oil & sulphur: be VERY very careful with this as it can cause a really nasty caustic reaction.

D'ya know what's easier? Clip the darn feathers off, end of. Its what I do and have done for a while. Less hassle, you can see if you've got a problem and if you have you can get to it, and much much cooler for the horse especially in this hot UK weather. Mine is barefoot and we use hoof boots, so makes sense for us. An easy management decision!

When I shampoo legs (or anywhere else) I use Head & Shoulders shampoo.
 
I use human purple shampoo - mine isn't heavily feathered but all four legs are white. It works out at £4.50 a bottle from Wilko. You don't need much and it works really well. Just make sure you wear gloves or you will end up with purple fingers (I only made that mistake once). I hose the legs down, lather in the shampoo using those pimply soled grooming gloves, leave for a couple of minutes, then hose out, scrubbing as I hose. Think it would work just as well on big feathers, you'd just need more of it.

 
I thought you were asking from a spiritual point of view 🤣🤣 White feathers have a long history of being revered as signs from the spiritual realm, so if you are finding white feathers, know that you are not alone.

As for white feathers on horses legs, hibiscrub is very good at cleaning and what I used to use on Baileys legs.
 
I clip Blue's legs, because I cannot be dealing with feather! But, on the rare occasions we go to a party, I do a wash with oatmeal shampoo, a wash with a purple shampoo, and a final coating of chalk paste before we set off, to be brushed off before we go in the ring. Most of the time, I just embrace the yellow.

I would patch test first though, and only use when a show look is required.
