Seems there is only so white the blue shampoo can make my horses legs , bits still remain yellow !

Please advise me as to what you use on white feathers as I need to get them lovely and white for a show next week .

We used own-brand supermarket washing up liquid on our cob's feathers, and then brushed them through with chalk powder before bandaging for travelling. They always gleamed, but took so much scrubbing- they were washed on an almost weekly basis over the summer.

We would have hacked them off, but if we even trimmed them he would have poles so Al wouldn't let us risk it :D

Best tip from me is to Pig oil and sulphur from knees down today, leave it on for a couple of days until it looks grotty, then yellow fairy, makes the hair come up super clean, id also invest in some white hairspray as this will cover any really yellow bits!

Put pig oil and sulphur on between washing protects from mud fever, mites and keeps stains off legs so when you wash them they are sparkling.

Wouldn't work with full feathers but for trimmed legs I use Gold Label whitening powder mixed with water into a paste. Paint it on the night before and leave overnight to dry. They come out so white you need sunglasses. Check out my Area Festivals post for latest photos!
