Just in case anyone wants to buy these wood pellets. The discount might help someone
Thank you. Great price per bag when buying a pallet. They are £7.50 a bag at the local feed merchants, I looked a couple of months ago when I bought treats for Lari.

Can I ask please, which type you use? I'm looking to use as a Base with miscanthus on top.

Also, how many bags to start a stable off please?

Thanks

I have used Sorbeo wood pellets before now depending on what feed merchant I visit as they are massive bags, just one bag well wetted before laying on the floor (on top of rubber matting) and stamping down well and a good layer of shavings over the top. As the wee gets absorbed into the pellets they will start to 'poke' through the surface of the shavings, at this point they can be skimmed off the surface.

I've just bought a couple of bags of platinum plus which I've used the past few years but plan on going halves with someone on a pallet of them.

Under miscanthus in a 12*12 I'd probably put 5 bags dry in the middle and not bother around the edges.

I just go for whatever is cheapest, usually described as 'white bag'. They're all designed to be burned, the premium type are usually whiter in colour but you won't be able to see them anyway.

Blimey your stables must be massive, mines 14 x 13 and I only use one under the spot where he wees. That is with shavings on top though. It's a decent sized bed, enough for him to lie on.

It depends if using just wood pellets or using under another bedding to help soak up the wee. They are good for wet horses but can be a bit dusty.

I have not used them for a couple of years as have one horse who has dust issues. Thinking of maybe using them under shavings but not sure if will be too dusty. Can not find cardboard bedding near me but want as dust free as possible. will be keeping out as long as possible. fingers crossed for a mild winter!
