Apologies for yet another electric fencing post but I’ve had a quote for some fencing I need replaced, there’s a lot of it and quote for post and rail simply isn’t affordable so the chap has quoted for this white lightning cable. I suggested post and tape as a good option but apparently this stuff is better, it doesn’t stretch, won’t short out because of foliage touching it, doesn’t blow about in the wind, and although it doesn’t break if a horse gets caught in it, apparently it would pull its fixings off the posts and once loose, just slide away from the horse because it’s smooth like power cable. It’s not mega expensive, for the amount I need I’d be looking at around £4k to cover two strands all round, without the posts, but I’m just not sure about it over tape, which I know and have used before.
Does anyone have any experience of it used as just post and cable, or does it need to be put against a rail? If you have it, how is it working for you? Any suggestions on any other options? I cannot afford full post and rail and want to discourage my large horses, plus Shetland pony from rubbing their backsides on it and continuously snapping rails which is what they’re doing now!
Thank you!
