I tried several different things, but my boy was suffering very badly by the time I got him. He had to have a hoof wall resection.
The only thing that has stopped it from repeatedly coming back is the keratex hoof disinfectant. I also feed him low sugar/ low starch/ high fibre diet, and keep his hooves as clean and dry as possible ( not hard when your in the worse drought that locals can remember for over 20years ! ).
I also have a brilliant farrier and my boy is on a 5 week shoeing cycle.

Formula4feet in feed, all the rubbish cut away and shoes left off then scrubbing clean and alamycin spray each night.
