White line disease

The farrier picked up a spot of white line disease in both front feet yesterday.

I've soaked both feet in very diluted Milton's fluid today, for as long as she'd tolerate it, and packed with Red Horse Arti-Mud. I've also got some Cleantrax coming tomorrow, along with a soaking boot.

I've also started her on a hoof supplement strongly recommended by my vet (although she's such a picky eater that I suspect I might as well throw it straight onto the muckheap).

Is there anything else I can be doing to help fight it?

Sod's law, it was the one time I couldn't be there for the farrier, so we're having to discuss it over text. Farrier says it's very mild and to stop worrying, but that's about the only thing I can't do!

Is she shod? If so, I would consider removing the shoes when next due, soak in Cleantrax, then shoe up again the day after. It doesn't do such a good job when shod.

No, she's barefoot.

In which case, it sounds like you have all your bases covered. It has been warm and damp weather, perfect for growing bugs.

Oh, I like to dry scrub with a stiff brush. So the hoof is really clean! I have also been using Bactakil, I think it is sold for sheep and cattle but Amazon didn't ask any awkward questions. Terramyacin spray too. I mean as an alternative, I don't layer them! I treat for bacteria and fungus.

I use Swan antibac on my horses feet it's brilliant for any white line or frog issues I just wire brush them then drip it in the line and frogs and you can still smell it for days so twice a week is plenty.

You can only buy it on line though.

My farrier recommended Swan Anti-Bac treatment for WLD.

It smells lovely, I think it may contain eucalyptus and/or teatree oil. But it certainly did the trick very speedily for my horse.

could be the rain lately, continuous wet feet, i have two with a touch of it, nothing you have done wrong, sometimes the conditions bring these things on

Once you've cleaned it out completely with Cleantrax or similar I'd give it a couple of coats of Hoof Armour to help keep debris out. It worked for me.
